About Akhadas

The Akhadas are the earliest spiritual warrior groups established to protect dharma and traditions. Akhadas are religious conventional orders formed by Adi Shankaracharya to protect Hindu dharma. In the present, 13 major Akhadas are participating in Kumbh.

Flag Hoisting Dates (Dhwajarohan)

The spiritual Dhwajarohan marks the ceremonial beginning of Kumbh rituals. Dhwajarohan (flag hoisting) is the formal inauguration of the Kumbh Mela.
