Garhbor is situated in the Aravalli hills. The name comes from a fort built here by a Bor Rajput king. The town is also called Charbhuja as it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This is an ancient town and the famous Charbhuja temple was built in 1444 CE.
It is said that the then King, Ganga Dev recovered the idol from a pond and enshrined it in his fort, after being instructed in a divine dream. He then built the temple. It is also believed that the Pandavas had worshipped this idol. The Jhaljhoolani Mela in the month of Bhadon is attended by hundreds of thousands of devotees.
