Khatu Shyam Ji is an Avatar of Shri Krishna and was Veer Barbarik in his earlier life. Veer Barbarik was the son of Ghatotkacha and grandson of Pandava Bhim. Roop Kund, near the temple is the place where the head was found. This is a temple personally blessed by Shri Krishna.

The temple is an architectural wonder made from white marble. countless   devotees who come year after year are mesmerised by  its beauty. There is a large prayer hall known as ‘Jagmohan’. The walls of this hall are adorned with scenes from the Puranas. The doors of the sanctum are covered with silver sheets which have intricate designs that are awe inspiring.
