The idol of Ganesha at Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai is carved out of a single black stone. Normally, the trunk of Ganesha is placed on the left side. Unusually, the trunk at Siddhivinayak temple is placed on the right side.

The upper right and left hands hold a lotus and axe. The lower right and left hands hold a ‘Modak’ and ‘Japmala. ‘ There’s an eye on the forehead of Ganesha which seems like the third of Lord Shiva.

There’s a sacred thread on the left shoulder and the right belly of Ganesha, which resembles a snake. There are two idols of Riddhi and Siddhi besides the idol of Ganesha, so the temple is popularly known as Siddhivinayak Temple. The goddess is the symbol of sanctity, success, wealth and prosperity.
