Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple Timings

Pazhamutircolai is located 19 km away from Madurai. The place is full of natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. Other names for this hill include Vrishabhadri or Idabagiri. Azhakar Kovil, one of the 108 divyadesams consecrated by Azhwars’ chants in the worship of Vishnu housed in this temple, is located at the base of the hill.

As the Lord of the Hills, known in Tamil as Kurinji Nilakkizhavan, Lord Muruga stands magnificently atop the hill in the temple. A motorable road that ascends the hill leads to the Pazhamutircolai shrine.

The sixth of Lord Murugan’s Aru Patai Vidukal, or the six holiest Murugan shrines listed by Cankam poet Nakkīrar in his song Tirumurukarruppatai, is Pazhamutircolai.

Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple is one of the important six abodes of Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati Mata. He is also known as Kartik Swamy. Lord Murugan stays here with Valli and Devasena on a hill amidst lush green forests. A natural spring on the top of the hill is known as Noopur Ganga and is said to have curative properties.
