Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is a Shiv Mandir on Omkar Mountain an island in mid-Narmada. It is one of the revered Hindu temples that is the centre of extreme faith. It is on an island called Mandhata or Shivapuri in the Narmada River, the shape of the island is said to be like the Hindu symbol.

There are 12 jyotirlingas and Omkareshwar is one of them. On completion of the pilgrimage, all the Hindus come here and offer the holy water. Then only their visit to other pilgrimage is considered to be completed.

Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple Aarti Timings

There are three regular ‘Pujas’ performed at Omkareshwar Temple. Morning Aarti is done by the temple trust known as Mangal Aarti. The afternoon one is by the priest of the Scindia state and the evening one is done by the priest of the Holkar state known as Evening Aarti.

It has a grand Sabha Mandap (meeting or prayer hall) standing on about 60 huge brownstone pillars (14 feet high), elaborately carved with a curious frieze and fillet of satyr-like figures. The temple is 5 storeyed each having various deities worshipped.

The circular path around Omkar Hill is the parikrama path, it is approximately 7 Km and has many ups and downs stairs. On this parikrama path, there are several temples and ashrams on the way. Hence, the confluence of two rivers is also on the path.
