What are the special occasions celebrated at Khatu Shyam Temple?
Khatu Shayam ji is worshipped as Krishna itself.
The festivals such as Janmaastami, Jhool Jhulani Ekadashi, Holi and Vasant Panchmi is celebrated with great hustle and bustle. The Phalgun Mela is the annual festival.
The temple is well-known for the first hair-cut ceremony of a child (mundan). New married couples also come to take blessings of Khatu Shyam ji.
The other important observances in temple is Ekadashi, Dwadashi, Dip in Shyam Kund and Nishan Yatra i.e the offering of triangular flag to Khatu Shyam ji.
As noted above, 5 grand aartis are performed during the day.
What is Phalgun Mela?
This is the most important festivals of Shri Khatu Shyam ji temple organized just 8-9 days before Holi. Barbarika’s head appeared on 11th day of Ekadashi, so fair is organized to celebrate this occasion. The mela is held from 9th day to 12th day of Phalgun month. Now the fair is held for about 12-15 days.
During Phalgun Mela people from all over the country come barefoot in large groups and offer Nishan ( the triangular holy flag). Security measures are taken as large number of people visit during this time. There are people who take care and offer food to people coming barefoot.
On the 12th day of Phalgun month people make purchases and Bhog of Kheer and Churama is also prepared and served to Khatu Shyamji.
How to reach the Khatu Shyam Mandir?
The nearest railway station is Ringas Junction which is 18.5 Kms away. Get down at railway and hire a private or shared taxis that are are easily available from the railway itself to reach Khatu village.
The best way to reach the temple is by road. You can opt for any private or Govt buses to reach the temple. The village has its own bus station.
The nearest airport to Khatu village is Sanganeer International Airport at Jaipur. Its located at a distance of 95 Kms. Then, you need to hire a vehicle to reach Khatu village.
