Char Dham Yatra 2021: allowed for devotees by Uttarakhand High Court

Here is some latest Char Dham news for the devotees. Recently on Thursday Uttarakhand high court(HC) decided to allow the resumption of Char Dham yatra for nearly after three months. As said by the court only those people who are fully vaccinated and carry a Covid negative report will be allowed to visit the shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

The Char Dham yatra which was stayed by the court on the 28th of June will now begin again according to the order given by Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma. Apart from the state government, even local businessmen and traders had also approached the HC with the same request.

Limitations on the number of people by the state government for Char Dham Yatra 

As said by the state government only 800 pilgrims will be allowed into Kedarnath each day, 600 pilgrims will be allowed to travel to Gangotri and 400 to Yamunotri. The government has also limited the number of people allowed in Badrinath to 1000 which was before 12,000 by the state. Also as stated by the government only three people will be allowed into the sanctum sanctorum of the shrines at once.

Measures to control Covid during Char Dham Yatra

As directed by the court the state government will station an appropriate number of policemen and authorities at each shrine to check overcrowding and adherence to Covid protocol.  Weekly reports will be sent to the HC regarding measures and the status of crowding at each of the shrines by secretaries of district legal services authority (DLSA) of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag – districts where Char Dham shrines are located.
